MIAMI (CBSMiami) – In observance of Veterans Day 2016, the Miami Heat will pay homage to the armed forces by expanding Home Strong, its long-standing military initiative.

For the second straight season, The Heat will wear their Home Strong uniforms in five games in November but while the uniforms look the same as last season, they added a little something special this year.

Each player's individual jersey will have a patch with the name of a different fallen hero on their uniform. Each of the fallen service members represented on the jerseys is from South Florida.

The HEAT formally debuted this new edition of their Home Strong uniform on Monday, November 7th vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder. The HEAT also wore the Home Strong uniform on November 10th vs. the Chicago Bulls and they'll wear them again on November 12th vs. the Utah Jazz, November 14th at the San Antonio Spurs and November 15th vs. the Atlanta Hawks. The Home Strong uniform is a visual extension of the team's ongoing charitable work with military families and features olive drab and tan fabrics, traditional military insignia elements and patriotic symbols.

As part of the team's on-going commitment to support U.S. servicemen and servicewoman and in conjunction with the NBA Hoops for Troops program, members of the Heat staff including President Pat Riley and Heat legends Alonzo Mourning and Glen Rice will work together with members of the U.S. Armed Forces and Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade to help renovate the homes of two local veterans.

This year, the Heat will aid Rickey Grant, a former First Class Airmen of the U.S. Airforce, as well as, Tymothi Coffee, a U.S. Navy veteran. Their homes will each receive a new roof, flooring, toilets, light fixtures, interior/exterior painting, landscaping and new appliances.
