MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Miami Fire Rescue crews used their talents to rescue a fury friend on Monday.

It all happened near NW 30th Street and NW 9th Avenue after Miami Fire Rescue got a call about cat stuck in a drain.

Cameras captured the rescue as a Miami firefighter went into a manhole, scouring the water in search of the kitten.

After about 20 minutes of searching, the crew was able to spot the black kitten in the murky water, mud and plastic bottles.

The three man crew was able to work together to fish the kitten from the manhole, rinse him off and save his life.

"It was kind of tough...but we were able to get him out and save a little cats life," said Lieutenant Gerardo Rodriguez.

It is unclear how the kitten ended up in the drain.
