Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Heads To D.C.

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Miami-Dade Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho is headed to Washington, D.C.

Carvalho has been invited to the White House for the Superintendent's summit on Wednesday.

He was honored at the White House last week to accept the National Superintendent of the Year Award but is excited to go back.

"I feel extremely honored to be invited back to the White House... twice within the same week," said Carvalho.

Miami-Dade is being recognized for work done to internet connectivity in public schools.

The event will also include leadership of other school districts from across the nation who will share their practices to promote technology as an educational tool.
