MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Property owners in Miami-Dade County can still apply for an exemption despite missing the March 1st deadline.

The Miami-Dade County Property Appraiser's office is asking property owners who have not done so to tackle this task.

The office will continue to accept exemption applications but those who are applying after March 1st need to complete an "Extenuating Circumstances " form for them to process the application.

Those who have to fill out an application can do so online or they can visit their offices Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Downtown Miami (111 NW 1st Street) or  at the South Dade Government Center (10710 SW 211 Street).

Applicants with any questions can also call (305) 375- 4712.
