MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A man shot by Miami-Dade police in Florida City turns out to be the suspect wanted in the murder of a Kendall woman.

"During the weekend, there was a murder and robbery that occurred in the Kendall area," explained Miami-Dade Police Department Director Juan Perez. "The leads that they obtained were very, very credible, where they summoned undercover officers to conduct a surveillance looking for a potential pickup truck that was used in the murder and robbery of the victim."

Police said 65-year-old Vicky Feeling was killed during a robbery in the area of SW 112th St. and SW 128th Ct.

A CBS4 News viewer sent a picture of a pickup truck inside the trailer park surrounded by police tape.

Detectives said the pickup truck, which was stolen out of the south district, was spotted at a Florida City trailer park off NW 3rd Ave. and 6th St.

Police said they attempted to stop the truck and that's when shots rang out.

"They attempted to stop and approach this vehicle to identify the suspect that was driving this vehicle. At that time, what the FDLE is investigating is what occurred," said Perez. "What we do know right now is there was a violent confrontation where the suspect rammed one of the police vehicles here and potentially almost struck some of the officers, who were on foot trying to approach, which lead to a police shooting."

The murder suspect, who was hit in the shooting, has yet to be identified. Investigators said he suffered non-life threatening injuries.
