Miami-Dade Fireboats To Go Back In Service

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Starting at 7 a.m. on Monday morning Miami-Dade fireboats will officially be back in service.

'Fireboat North' will be placed in service at Pelican Harbor Marina, on the 79th Street Causeway. It will have a primary response area from north of the Julia Tuttle Causeway to the county line.

This will be part of a joint maritime response program which will include boats from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the City of Miami.

It will also include personnel from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and officers from the City of Miami, Miami Beach, Coral Gables and the Village of Key Biscayne.

According to authorities, this is the first step in a multi-step process that has the goal of providing maritime fire rescue services throughout the South Florida coastline, bay area and inland waterways.
