Miami-Dade Cop Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Gas

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Police arrested a Miami-Dade police officer and her husband on Tuesday for allegedly filling up their personal cars with gas from a county fueling station.

According to our news partners,the Miami Herald,  Rose Sabio, 41, has been charged with organized scheme to defraud and third-degree grand theft.  Her husband Husband Giomar Picon, 31, a security guard has also been charged.

Authorities told the paper,  the two would use a county gas card, only meant to fill up her patrol car, in order to fill up their cars at a South Miami-Dade County Fuel facility.

The theft allegedly took place over several months and amounted to hundreds of dollars. According to the paper, it was captured on hidden surveillance video.

Miami-Dade's Professional Compliance Bureau headed the investigation.
