Violent, multi-vehicle crash in Miami turns deadly, family says

A violent, multi-crash reported in Miami early Friday morning has now turned deadly, according to a family member of one of the victims.

An investigation has been underway in Miami since the crash was reported in the area of NW 7th Street and 31st Avenue around 4:30 a.m.

The area was shut down to traffic while the investigation was underway, and investigators had been asking people to avoid the area.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash, according to officials, and three people were injured.

One of those victims, who was identified by family members as 79-year-old Eduardo Marquez, died as a result of the crash.

The family member told CBS News Miami that Marques was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital after the crash, which occurred near his home.

Debris was seen scattered across the roadway, and vehicles that were heavily damaged in the crash remained at the scene for more than seven hours.

No other information has been released by officials.
