MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Police in Miami Beach are looking for a man they say is a killer.

Investigators are looking for a man who is wanted for a murder on Saturday night.

Police Chief Daniel Oates spoke about the Investigation Tuesday evening after releasing surveillance video.

"The bottom line is, we need him identified and the video is excellent and we are appealing to the community for help to identify him, the chief said.

The deadly shooting took place at 14th Street and Collins Avenue in Miami Beach.

According to Investigators, they have pieced together a lot of the suspect's steps using a combination of city and private surveillance cameras.

One camera spotted him near the seawall at 13th Street, where he took out his gun and fired one shot.

"The video you saw of him firing a shot on the seawall. No one was hit and we did not get any phone calls about that," Chief Oates said.

The suspect then heads to the murder scene, where he got into a confrontation with the victim and shot that person several times.

"It doesn't happen often. Obviously, as a community, it's not something we can tolerate," the chief said.

Police say the suspect was last seen near the One Hotel on Collins Avenue and 23rd Street.

"He appears to be somewhat not normal. I don't know if he's drunk or not in a normal state, " Oates said.

There is an $8000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case. That's a combination of money from Crime Stoppers and the Greater Miami- Miami Beach Police Foundation.

"We really, really, really want to talk to this person. We know he's the shooter. It might be that he has an explanation for his behavior that's acceptable under Florida law," Oates said.

Anyone with information should call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim because investigators have not reached next of kin.
