"Suspicious Packages" In Miami Beach Cleared

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) -- Authorities have cleared packages that had been deemed suspicious in Miami Beach.

Miami-Dade Bomb Squad have moved them to an isolated parking garage.

Around 9:30 a.m., bomb squad and Hazmat crews had been called out to the area of 4900 Alton Road at Mt. Sinai Hospital.

Police said it started when hospital security spotted three packages near a synagogue and took them into the security office after they considered them suspicious.

The investigation was affecting traffic in the area of 43rd Street and Alton Road but as of 11 a.m., traffic had been reopened.

Authorities said they did not want to take any chances and urge people to always be on the lookout .

"Yeah that's the thing we want to admonish our citizens and residents ...if you see something suspicious, definitely call it in ,"said Captain Carlton Price with the Miami Beach Fire Department.
