MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — South Florida's public transportation system has taken another step forward.

Miami International Airport's new Tri-Rail station is now open for business.

Construction on the project began four years ago.

The station is part of Miami's Central Station at the Miami Intermodal Center. The new stop will conduct passengers to and from the airport.

The airport stop is part of a 72-mile regional rail corridor.

Amtrak, Greyhound and bicycle lockers will join the service in the future.
