Meteorologist John Gerard Named New CBS4 Weekend Weather Anchor

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- CBS4 has hired veteran meteorologist John Gerard to anchor the station's weekend weathercasts.

He will join the station on June 15 and will anchor the 6 and 11 pm newscasts, and serve as the primary fill-in weather anchor for Chief Meteorologist Craig Setzer.

Gerard, a certified broadcast meteorologist, previously worked at WPLG and WTVJ in South Florida, in addition to television stations in Cincinnati and Cleveland, Ohio;  Evansville, Indiana; Knoxville, Tennessee, and San Antonio, Texas. In addition, his radio weather forecasts have been heard on over 200 stations across the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean.

He began his career as a meteorological technician prior to working in broadcasting and he also taught meteorology at The University of Miami.

When he's not forecasting, he spends his time making public appearances at schools and civic organizations, working as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, coaching youth soccer and organizing a weekend youth sports for kids ages 5-15.
