MIAMI (CBSMiami) - With Thanksgiving just a week, Coral Gables is about to light up for the holidays with their annual Merrick Park Tree Lighting Celebration.

The event, now in its 13th year, will be held Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Shops of Merrick Park. The actual flipping of the switch for the 50-foot, 55,000 light Christmas tree will happen at 7:45 p.m.

CBS4 meteorologist Dave Warren will be hand and have live weather forecasts from the shops beginning at 5 p.m.

In addition to the lighting of the tree, there will also be performances by the Coral Gables High School Choir and the Miami Royal Ballet. Other holiday themed entertainment includes jugglers, magicians, stilt walkers and cookie decorating.

And, of course, no tree lighting ceremony would be complete without a visit from the jolly old elf himself - Santa Claus.
