Medical Marijuana Supporters Vow Return To 2016 Ballots

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) – The supporters of a broader medical marijuana law in the state of Florida are promising to return to the ballot next year after apparently failing in the Legislature.

After the House adjourned its annual session Tuesday, three days early, United for Care has vowed that "voters will pass what the Legislature failed to."

The state House ended the session over a budget impasse with the Senate. It had failed to act on marijuana legislation.

A narrow law to allow low-potency strains of the drug was passed last year. A broader effort was proposed after a constitutional amendment failed to get 60 percent support on last November's ballot.
