MDC Professor May Have Been Attacked Over Bad Grade
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A Miami-Dade College professor is recovering from injuries he received in a brutal attack at the school's Kendall campus.
According to CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald, music professor Marc Magellan, 31, suffered a broken nose and hand.
The attack took place just before 6 pm on April 15th in a parking garage. According to a Miami-Dade Police report, Magellan was leaving campus and a man called out "Professor Marc." When he turned around, he was sucker-punched in the face.
Magellan fell to the ground and the assailant began punching him and smashing his head on the concrete floor.
Police are investigating whether the beating was ordered by a student who was angry over a bad grade.
It was not a robbery because nothing was stolen.
So far, no arrests have been made.
Security has been increased at the campus as a precaution.
According to Magellan and information on the police report, the assailant was about 5-10, 180 pounds, and either of Hispanic or African-American descent. He wore a white shirt, white pants and red shoes. After the attack, he sped away from the campus in a blue sports car.
