MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) -- The Miami Marlins are expected to announce the hiring of new manager Don Mattingly at a news conference scheduled for Monday, according to the Associated Press.

The former Dodgers manager was hired by Miami less than a week after he left Los Angeles, the only team he's managed since retiring as a player.

In five seasons as skipper, he went 446-363 (.551%) with two playoff appearances, including one trip to the NLCS. In 2013, he came 2nd in voting for Manager of the Year.

Mattingly becomes the 15th manager in Marlins history.

Fun Fact: In 1987, Mattingly hit an MLB-record 6 grand slams in one season with the Yankees.
