Marlins Sign Justin Maxwell To Minor League Deal

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins made a minor move on Tuesday that the team hopes will bolster its organizational depth in the upcoming season.

The Marlins have signed veteran Justin Maxwell to a minor league contract.

Maxwell, 32, spent the 2015 season with the San Francisco Giants, hitting .209 with seven home runs and 26 RBIs in 249 at bats.

In seven major league seasons Maxwell has a career average of .220 to go with 41 home runs and 133 RBIs.

He's played with the Washington Nationals, Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals in addition to the Giants.
