MIAMI (AP) — Miami Marlins reserve infielder Don Kelly has broken the ring finger on his right hand fielding a grounder at third base against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Kelly, who was making his first start Sunday, had to leave the game after sustaining the injury in the second inning.

Catcher Jeff Mathis left the game in the eighth inning after a pitch hit him on the throwing hand while he was behind the plate.
