Marlins Host Yankees In Final Spring Series Before Opening Day

LITTLE HAVANA (CBSMiami) -- The countdown to Opening Day is on for baseball fans as the Miami Marlins host the New York Yankees in the final series of spring training this weekend.
It's the first time fans are getting to see the Marlins in Miami since the end of last season, including the unofficial debut of new skipper Don Mattingly and hitting coach Barry Bonds.
On Friday, the roof was opened as Marlins ace Jose Fernandez is scheduled to pitch three innings.
The team took part in batting practice before the game, taking aim at the new dimensions in the outfield as the fences were pushed in about 11 feet. The fish say they're ready to get started.
"It's good to be back. Spring training is long. We got a few more games to go, ya know, get it over with and get ready for the season," said All-Star 2nd baseman Dee Gordon.
Needless to say, the team is happy to be back home.
"Jupiter's a great place to have spring training but to get back here in this clubhouse and this facility, this stadium, in front of these fans, it's always something a lot more exciting," said catcher J.T. Realmuto. "Spring training games get a little tedious toward the end so we're really excited to be back here and playing."
The Marlins open up the season on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers.
