LAKELAND (AP) — One Marathon man is saving animals' lives by flying them to new homes.

The Lakeland Ledger reports that Jeff Bennett has transported about 3,800 animals in the last 10 years as a volunteer for Pilots n Paws.

The program relocates animals at risk of being euthanized in crowded shelters. Bennett shared his story during a recent event at Lakeland's Florida Air Museum.

Among the animals Bennett has transported are falcons, sea turtles and pythons.
