Manchester U. Rumored To Be Part Of 2014 Guinness Cup

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The first of a pair of major soccer announcements for South Florida will take place Tuesday at Sun Life Stadium. The first announcement will reveal the teams that have agreed to take part in the 2014 Guinness International Champions Cup.

The rumored list of teams scheduled to compete in this August's Champions cup reads like a who's-who of top soccer teams from around the world. The prospective teams include: Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Roma, and Olympiakis.

Putting together that kind of slate for the second Champions Cup at Sun Life Stadium will be quite a feat for the organizers. It will also likely draw some of the biggest crowds for a sporting event that Sun Life Stadium has ever seen.

The champions cup will be played across 12 U.S. cities with the semi-finals and finals here in South Florida.

Last year's contests saw the Los Angeles Galaxy lose to Milan in the third place game and Real Madrid beat Chelsea 3-1 in the championship. Over 67,000 attended both the Galaxy and Real Madrid games.
