MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A flash fire on a boat in Dania Beach  launched a man off  a deck, burning him.

Broward Sheriff's Fire crews said the 58-year old man was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital after the flash fire on the 28-foot Pursuit boat.

Others were also on the boat at the time including three boys, a 17-year old, 15-year old and 9-year old, as well as an adult woman.  They were not injured.

Fire crews said they were refueling 100 gallons of fuel when the fuel vent somehow dislodged and did not properly vent the fuel vapors.

When he went to start the boat, the spark ignited the vapor causing the flash fire.

The blast was so hard, the force lifted the man off the deck, hitting his head on the canopy.

He sustained burns on his feet and a head injury. His condition is unknown at this time.
