Man Shoots, Kills Alleged Robber In Pompano Beach

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – A man was shot dead in a South Florida Taco Bell parking lot last night and the shooter was not arrested.

The deadly shooting happened just after 6 p.m. Tuesday night at the Taco Bell near West Atlantic Blvd. and NW 6th Ave in Pompano Beach.

Investigators say 21-year-old Rontavis Holton was attempting an armed robbery when came into the taco bell parking lot wearing a ski mask and sunglasses.

The suspect allegedly confronted 37-year-old Ronald Farmer and told Farmer to pull down his pants down during the robbery.

Detectives say Farmer distracted Holton and was able to reach for his own gun and then shoot the suspect. Holton was rushed to the hospital where he died.

The shooter was questioned by police but no charges have been filed at this time.
