Man Sentenced To 30 Years For Ex-Girlfriend's Murder

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A man who killed a Miami Lakes woman in 2010 and then fled the country has been sentenced to 30 years prison.

During the hearing for Roque Torres, the judge ordered that 25 of the 30 year sentence be mandatory.

Marisol Ramon, described as a loving single mother of two, disappeared on May 26th, 2010 from the Royal Oaks Shopping Plaza, just off the Palmetto expressway in Miami Lakes.

Security video showed her Toyota arriving at the mall, followed by a Yukon SUV driven by her ex-boyfriend, Torres.

Ramon's car never left the parking lot and Torres disappeared the night Marisol did.

On June 28th, Ramon's skeletal remains were found by a tourist near a service road off US 27 near the Broward/Palm Beach county line.

Roque's SUV was found near Fort Myers. Police say DNA proves blood in the SUV belonged to her and that she had been shot to death.

Torres, 64, was arrested January 16th, 2011 after an extensive manhunt that led investigators to Central America. Torres was extradited to South Florida following his arrest in Managua, Nicaragua.

Miami-Dade Police charged Torres with second degree murder in the death of  Ramon.
