ORLANDO (AP) — A Florida man has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for his role in a timeshare fraud scheme.

A federal judge last week also ordered 29-year-old Mark Gardner to pay $1.2 million in restitution.

Prosecutors say Gardner and a colleague ran a time-share "boiler room."

They say telemarketers would make unsolicited calls to timeshare owners, telling them they had a potential buyer lined up to purchase their timeshare.

They would say all the timeshare owner has to do is pay a fee of between $1,600 and $2,200 for the sale to move forward.

Prosecutors say all that was fraud.
