DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) -- A man is in custody following a SWAT situation in Deerfield Beach on Thursday morning.

Chopper4 was over the scene where the man, in flex cuffs, could be seen being put into an ambulance as SWAT officials stood by him. Earlier,  SWAT could be seen with guns drawn and a SWAT vehicle near to the apartment building located at 215 Newport M.

Broward Sheriff's deputies said the man, in his 70s, woke up in diabetic shock. That's when he grabbed a gun and shot several rounds in his apartment. Deputies said the man later locked himself inside the apartment refusing to come out, prompting deputies to call SWAT and take him into custody.

No one was inside the apartment at the time and no one was injured from the shots fired.

It is unclear if and what charges the man may be facing.
