LITTLE HAVANA (CBSMiami) - A Miami man is in critical condition after a shooting Sunday morning in Little Havana.

It happened about 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of NW 6th Street and NW 19th Avenue.

Relatives identify the victim as 23-year-old Brian Guifarro.

He was shot in the head and rushed to Ryder Trauma Center, but relatives say doctors are not giving them much hope that he will survive.

Relatives say he was out with some friends at a bar in Little Havana earlier in the night but they're not sure exactly what happened before he was shot.

According to family members, Guifarro lived in Miami most of his life and worked in construction.

"He's humble. He's a great friend. He's just for other people - he's willing to do anything for other people," said Wendy Mena, who is married to Guifarro's cousin.

"It's not fair what they did to him. Nobody can take anybody's life just like that," she added.

Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
