Man Dies After Accidentally Shooting Himself

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A southwest Miami-Dade man accidentally shot himself in the chest while demonstrating the proper way to clean a gun on a video call with a relative.

Police were sent to Josmel Herrera's home at 10601 SW 27th Street around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after getting calls about a gunshot.

When officers arrived, they found Herrera, 43, with a gunshot wound to his chest.

He was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not said if there was anyone else in the home at the time of the shooting.
