JACKSONVILLE (CBSMiami/AP) – Jacksonville firefighters pulled a man out of his burning home just before the roof collapsed.

When crews got to the home on Thanksgiving morning they found a man trying to get inside the home, where flames could be seen coming from the garage area. He told them there was someone inside the home.

The Florida Times-Union reports firefighters went to the back of the home and found a young man on a bed. Flames came through the home's roof, forcing crews to leave. The roof collapsed a short time later.

The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The man who was trying to rescue him was also to a hospital, where he's in stable condition.

The state fire marshal is investigating.
