Man Arrested For Domestic Dispute With The Elderly

COCONUT CREEK (CBSMiami) -- A Coconut Creek man was arrested Tuesday for aggravated battery on the elderly.

According to police, 31-year old Andre Darrell Barrett was involved in a domestic dispute with two family members at a residence on the 6000 block of NW 44th Lane in Coconut Creek.

Before police arrived to the scene, Barrett ran from the house but was later caught and arrested.

Coconut Creek Police spokesperson Kathy Markland confirmed that one of the victims is over the age of 65.

Both of the victims suffered non-life threatening injuries as well as Barrett who was treated for burns he received from a fire inside the home.

Police says the investigation is ongoing and there is no information on what led to the dispute or the fire.

Barrett is being held without bond in the Broward County Jail.

According to court records, Barrett has faced previous criminal charges such as domestic violence battery and battery on law enforcement but those criminal cases have since been closed.
