Man Arrested After Toddler Bit By Dog

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A man is under arrest after a toddler was bitten by a dog while under his care and he lied about it, according to Miami Police.

Eddson Aldenis Berrios, 39, was taking care of the 22-month old girl when she was bitten by a dog on February 27th, detectives said.

Berrios  decided to treat the child's wound - various cuts and a fractured bone- at the home instead of calling for medical services, police said.

Detectives later found out his original story was made-up.

He first told police a stray dog had bitten the child in a park near his home but he later admitted the story was untrue.

Police said Berrios admitted it was his dog who bit the child and it happened at his home.

Berrios is charged with child neglect and false reports to law enforcement authorities.
