Majority Of Americans Support Re-Opening Trade With Cuba

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A majority of Americans say they support the deal to re-open trade and diplomatic ties with Cuba.

A recent CBS News poll found 54-percent of respondents said they approved of the deal while 28-percent disapproved of it.

More than half think the deal will improve the lives of Cubans.

Forty four percent approved of President Barrack Obama's handling of relations with Cuba while 36-percent disapproved.

Even though the question of renewed relations with Cuba divides Republicans, they overwhelmingly disapprove (67 percent) of the President's handling of the matter. Most Democrats approve (72 percent), while independents are divided.
