CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – Lights were lit and tears were shed Tuesday evening to honor the memory of victims involved in drunk-driving crashes in Miami-Dade County.

Miami-Mothers Against Drunk Driving sponsored the vigil at the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables, located at 536 Coral Way, in remembrance of those injured or killed by impaired drivers.

Family and friends were invited to pay tribute by lighting a candle and reciting the name of their loved one.

The ceremony started at 7 p.m. and acted as outlet for people to share their experiences.

MADD hopes those recently dealing with loss could hear messages of hope from survivors, as a sort of healing process.
