MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The family of murdered security guard Presley Francois have angry, desperate questions for the person who took his life, and there are no clear answers.

"What did he do to you that was so bad? All he was doing was working to make a living. Why did you do that?" cried Francois' wife of 5 years, Anceline Dantinor.

Francois was shot to death as he sat in his vehicle at one of his two security jobs.

"It's so painful. I can't sleep. I can't eat. He was my best friend. I just miss him so much," cried Dantinor, burying her face in her hands.

Harder still, is explaining this kind of tragedy to their 4-year-old twin boys.

"They're asking me, 'where's daddy? Where's daddy?' And I don't know what to say because one of them, he's just standing in front of the door like, 'oh my God is my dad gonna come in?'"

Chauncy Francois is the oldest of Francois' nine children. He is stepping up to care for all of his siblings as his father urged him to do.

"I'm trying to be the strongest out of all of us. I'm trying to be that rock right now because everybody's broken right now, so I'm trying to stay whole," he said.

Miami Police said they have no idea why someone ambushed Francois who by all accounts was a hard-working family man, not involved in any trouble. Though his daughter Amanda Francois said those who did not walk such a straight path didn't like her father much.

"If you're doing something you're not supposed to do, he's not going to look the other way. He's gonna make sure you get whatever justice needs to come to you."

They said Francois was licensed to carry a gun and had it on him when he was murdered.

"If he would have seen it coming it would have been a problem. It would be a fight. They just ran up on him, they didn't even give him a chance," explained Chauncy Francois.

Now they can only cling to their photos of this loved man and their final memories of him. Like the memory of the last bouquet of flowers he surprised Dantinor with just hours before his murder.

"'I was like baby it's been awhile, why flowers? He said, 'because I love you.'"

Anyone with information that can help Miami Police should call them or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
