Lobster Mini-Season Comes To An Uneventful End

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – An uneventful lobster mini-season has come to an end and now the commercial lobster season begins on August 6th.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the Coast Guard did not report any accidents, injuries or deaths as of Thursday evening. The FWC did issue citations for diving on an illegal habitat off Key West on Wednesday. FWC officers also arrested a father and his two sons for catching too many lobsters. The trio was 28 lobsters over the daily bag limit. The illegal lobsters were found in a hidden compartment under the deck of the boat, according to FWC.

Divers and commercial fishermen will take to the waters August 6 for the start of regular spiny lobster season.

The lobster season runs from Aug. 6 through March 31.
