Lawmakers Will Return To Capitol In September

MIAMI (CBSMiami/NSF) -- As the special session wrapped up Friday evening, House and Senate leaders were already looking ahead toward the 2016 regular session.

House Speaker Steve Crisafulli, R-Merritt Island, and Senate President Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando, released a schedule of committee meetings leading up to the Jan. 12th start of next year's session.

Committee meetings are scheduled for Sept. 16 through Sept. 18; Oct. 5 through Oct. 9; Oct. 19 through Oct. 23; Nov. 2 through Nov. 6; Nov. 16 through Nov. 20; and Nov. 30 through Dec. 4.

Lawmakers last year approved a change that will lead to an earlier start for the 2016 session.

Ordinarily, the regular session starts in March.
