Last Day To Register To Vote In November Election

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) - The November Election is right around the corner and time is running out if you haven't registered to vote.

The registration deadline is Monday, October 6, 2014.

Republicans and Democrats are trying to mobilize supporters, particularly because of the hard-fought race for governor.

As of the Aug. 26 primary elections, Florida had about 11.8 million registered voters, with Democrats holding a registration edge of about 450,000 over Republicans.

To register to vote, residents must:

  • be 18 years or older (pre-registration begins at 16);
  • be a U.S. citizen;
  • be a permanent resident of Miami-Dade County or Broward County..

"Registering to vote is the first step to 'Be Election Ready' and have a voice in important issues affecting you and your community," stated Supervisor of Elections Penelope Townsley.
