Lada Gaga, Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg, Others React to Trump Victory

By Jon Wiederhorn

It seems like everyone had it wrong except Donald Trump and his legion of followers. Practically the entire music industry seemed to be supporting Hillary Clinton. Most polls predicted she would become the first woman to be president of the United States and for weeks the media said it would be nearly impossible for Trump to carve a win through all the traditionally blue states.

But Trump defied all odds, mobilizing hordes of disaffected Americans to head the polls and vote for him. And by the end of the night he won a surprise, but indisputable, victory over Clinton.

Most musicians and celebrities reacted with anger and fear. Some had messages of defiance. In an Instagram photo, Lady Gaga stood in front of Trump Tower holding a sign that read, "Love Trumps Hate." Katy Perry tweeted, "Do not sit still. Do not weep. MOVE. We are not a nation that will let HATE lead us." and Chuck D wrote on Twitter, "Hitler Is Real #meinTrump."

Others dealt used humor to soothe their wounds. Snoop Dogg said he was looking for a new home in Canada and Courtney Love suggested Americans start buying stock in brick companies for that border-spanning "wall" Trump promised to build to stop illegal immigration.
