MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Kraft Heinz company is recalling certain packages of cheese singles because of a possible choking hazard.

The company said it's voluntarily recalling three pound and four pound cheese boxes of Kraft Singles American and White American Pasteurized cheese due to the possibility that a thin strip of the individual packaging film may remain adhered to the slice after the wrapper is removed.

The company said if the film sticks to the slice, and it is not removed, it could potentially cause a choking hazard.

The affected products have a 'Best when used by' date of December 29, 2015 through January 4, 2016 followed by the manufacturing code S54 or S55. For more information, click here.

There have been 10 consumer complaints about the packaging, including three reports of consumers choking.

Consumers are asked not to eat the affected product and should return it to the store where it was purchased for a refund or exchange.

Consumers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico can also contact Kraft Heinz Consumer Relations for a full refund, at 1-800-432-3101, Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm Eastern.
