King Felipe VI Addresses US-Spain Council Meeting

ST. AUGUSTINE (AP) — King Felipe VI of Spain says St. Augustine's 450th anniversary is the latest recognition of the Hispanic community's contributions to U.S. history.
St. Augustine has been continuously occupied since its Spanish founding, making it the oldest city in the U.S. Felipe and his wife toured St. Augustine's historic sites Friday before attending a U.S.-Spain Council meeting.
According to a statement of the king's remarks, Felipe said the creativity and tenacity of St. Augustine's founders live on in the many Spaniards working in the U.S., especially Spanish scientists and entrepreneurs.
The king also said the "expansion of the Spanish language is another field open to creativity and innovation," particularly in the arts and online.
Felipe also said he discussed global security with President Barack Obama when they met earlier this week.
