MARATHON (CBSMiami) – A Marathon woman claims she was attacked Sunday morning while walking her dog.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported the incident took place just before 7 a.m. near Aviation Boulevard and Stirrup Key Road.

According to the woman, she saw a person standing near a stop sign and then step into the nearby woods to hide.

The woman told investigators she became nervous and started walking back home, but was confronted by the person and pulled into the bushes.

Officials said the man was wearing red-colored short sleeved shirt with dark pants or possibly long shorts with a mask or bandana that was possibly white in color wrapped around his face.

Deputies could not locate the person.
