Keys Man Arrested In NC For Alleged Rape Of Teenager
KEY LARGO (CBSMiami) – A Key Largo man was arrested in North Carolina for allegedly raping a teenager and threatening her life on multiple occasions.
U.S. Marshals located Marcus Hammer, 41, early Saturday morning at a hotel in Dunn, North Carolina. Hammer will be returned to Monroe County to face charges including eight counts of armed sexual battery, possession of material depicting a sexual performance by a child and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Hammer fled the Key Largo area to North Carolina before he could be arrested.
Officials first learned of the abuse when the teenager reported it to a school resource officer.
Detectives with the Sheriff's Major Crimes Unit learned the abuse reportedly took place over the past two years.
Hammer is accused of repeatedly threatening the victim and said he would harm her family and friends if she did not comply.
