KEY BISCAYNE (CBSMiami) -- A team of artists and sculptors is attempting to build the world's tallest sandcastle at Historic Virginia Key Beach.
The world record attempt was put together by Turkish Airlines, who's inaugural service from Miami to Istanbul begins Sunday.
A team of 12 sculptors, led by 7-time record holder Ted Siebert, plan to use more than 1,800 tons of sand to complete the structure, which is due to be completed October 26.
The sculpture is expected to remain standing for three weeks.
The current record for the world's largest sandcastle stands in Brazil at 41 feet, 3.67 inches, done in 2014.
