Jury Selection Underway In Case Of Murdered Broward Deputy

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Nearly a decade after a Broward Sheriff's deputy was gunned down, three men accused of his murder are set to go on trial.

Jury selection was underway Tuesday in the murder case of Broward Sheriff's Deputy Brian Tephford.

Back on November 12, 2006, Deputy Tephford, then 34, was shot to death during a traffic stop while working an off-duty detail at Versailles Gardens condominium in Tamarac.

Deputy Corey Carbocci, 37, who arrived as a backup, survived four shots to the chest and leg.

Authorities later arrested Eloyn Devon Ingraham, 28, of Sunrise; Bernard Forbes, 22, and Andre Delancy, 19, and charged them in the attack.

Tephford was not wearing a protective vest when he was killed.

Delancy, Forbes and Ingraham could face the death penalty if convicted.
