MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Thousands gathered in downtown Coral Gables Sunday to highlight the Junior Orange Bowl Parade's 67th year entertaining the community.

This year's theme was "Our Historic Hometown" and featured floats, marching bands, performances and more.

"We love the bands, we love all the children participating in the parade, and the Mahi Shriners, we love them! Every year we see them," said attendee Jose Soto who, along with his wife, brought their two kids to watch the parade.

More than 60 individual units marched through the Gables streets.

"I love to see the bands and the creativity in the floats," said Jenise, who spent the afternoon with her children. "The kids are having such fun watching the parade and the horses."

The annual parade was the flagship event of the Junior Orange Bowl Festival Season, consisting of 15 athletic, academic and cultural youth events in South Florida.
