AVENTURA (CBSMiami) -- An early morning jog turned into a hit and run investigation in Aventura on Saturday.

Aventura Police said just before 7 a.m. two joggers flagged down a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue unit after finding what they said looked like a body in the bushes near the 2900 Block of NE 199th Street.

When officers arrived, they found the body of a 70-year old man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said it appears an unidentified car struck the man sometime before 3:30 a.m. and then left.

Investigators have not released a description of the vehicle but said it should have a broken headlight or turn signal on its left side and possibly left front bumper and hood damage.

Police said they are still analyzing evidence left at the scene.

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471- TIPS.
