JERUSALEM (CBSMiami/AP) —  Facebook officials are working with Israel to determine how to fight incitement on the social media network.

Two Israeli Cabinet ministers met on Monday with senior Facebook officials Joel Kaplan and Monika Bickert.

The meeting comes as the ministers have proposed legislation that seeks to force social networks to remove content Israel considers incitement. An opposition lawmaker has proposed a bill seeking to force social networks to self-monitor for incitement or face a fine.

A statement from Interior Minister Gilad Erdan's office said the sides agreed to create teams that would figure out how best to monitor and remove content deemed to be inciting. Facebook had no immediate comment.

Israel blames violence over the past year on Palestinian incitement, much of it on social media.
