Hurricanes Baseball Team No. 4 In Preseason Rankings

CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – The Miami Hurricanes baseball team is preparing for another successful season, and they're already off to a good start before playing an inning.

The Hurricanes have been ranked No. 4 in the country by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper in their annual preseason rankings, which were released on Monday.

It's Miami's highest preseason ranking from the publication since 2005 when they were ranked No. 2 heading into the season.

The Hurricanes are returning 19 letter winners from last season's team which won a second consecutive ACC Coastal Division title and qualified for the College World Series for the 24th time in school history.

The Canes also extended their own college baseball record by qualifying for the NCAA postseason for the 43rd straight year.

Heading into Miami's 2015 postseason run they were given the No. 5 national seed after winning 50 games and ending the season ranked No. 6 by Collegiate Baseball.

The Hurricanes' 2016 home schedule includes series' against three teams ranked in the top 10: No. 1 Florida, No. 2 Louisville and No. 9 Virginia.  On the road, Miami faces ranked teams No. 16 Florida State, No. 21 Georgia Tech, No. 22 North Carolina and No. 27 Notre Dame.
