Jose A Little Stronger & Tropical Storm Watches Possible In US On Saturday

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Hurricane Jose has gotten a little stronger and tropical storm watches are possible in the U.S. on Saturday.

As of 11 p.m. Friday, Jose was 600 miles south-southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.

Jose is moving toward the northwest near 9 mph. A gradual turn toward the north is expected over the next couple of days.

The estimated maximum sustained winds have increased to near 80 mph with higher gusts.  Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles.

Additional strengthening is expected this weekend.
