Hurricane Fay Expected To Weaken Sunday Night

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The tropical storm Fay has reached hurricane status but is expected to weaken in the coming hours.

Hurricane Fay is currently located about 290 miles northeast of Bermuda.

Maximum sustained winds are 75 miles per hour and present movement is east northeast at 25 miles per hour.

There are no current coastal watches or warnings in effect.

The storm is expected to continue moving over the open Atlantic Ocean with an increase in forward speed over the next couple of days.

Fay is expected to weaken below hurricane status sometime Sunday night. Additional weakening is expected before Fay becomes extratropical on Monday.
